This policy is issued in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019 (NDPR) and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).

1. Who We Are (Data Controller)

Domestic Staff App is the data controller responsible for your personal data collected through this platform. We are based in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria. For all data-related enquiries, contact us at domesticstaffapp@gmail.com.

2. What Personal Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

From Customers (Employers)

  • Full name and email address (registration)
  • Payment information — processed and held by Paystack; we receive only a transaction reference, not your card details
  • Interview booking preferences and notes
  • Reviews submitted about Service Personnel
  • Support ticket content

From Service Personnel (SPs)

  • Full legal name, pseudonym used on public profile, date of birth, religion, and gender
  • Government-issued ID type and identification number
  • Photographs (headshot and ID document copies)
  • Residential address and local government area
  • Phone number (revealed to customers only after placement fee is paid)
  • Employment history, skills, and salary expectations
  • Guarantor name, phone number, city, and relationship
  • Field verification observations recorded by our officers

Automatically Collected

  • Browser type, device information, and IP address
  • Pages visited and time spent on the platform (analytics only)

3. How We Use Your Personal Data

We process personal data on the following legal bases under the NDPR and NDPA:

  • Performance of a contract: To register your account, process payments, book interviews, and fulfil placement services.
  • Legitimate interests: To verify the identity of Service Personnel, prevent fraud, improve the platform, and send service-related notifications.
  • Consent: To send promotional emails or product updates (you may withdraw consent at any time by emailing us).
  • Legal obligation: To retain transaction records as required by Nigerian financial and tax regulations.

4. How We Share Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only as follows:

  • Paystack: Payment processing. Paystack is a PCI-DSS compliant processor. Their privacy policy applies to card data.
  • Field Verification Officers (OFVOs): SP identity and document data is shared with our contracted field officers solely for verification purposes.
  • Customers (after payment): Stage 1 (after interview fee) — SP first name. Stage 2 (after placement fee) — SP full name and phone number.
  • Agents:Agents who submitted an SP can view that SP's profile status within the agent portal.
  • Legal authorities: Where we are compelled by a valid court order, law enforcement request, or other legal obligation under Nigerian law.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and for up to 7 years after account closure, as required by Nigerian financial regulations. SP verification documents (ID copies, photographs) are retained for the duration of the SP's profile and for 2 years after removal, to support any post-placement disputes.

You may request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us. Deletion requests are processed within 30 days, subject to our legal retention obligations.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use strictly necessary cookies (authentication session tokens) to keep you logged in. We may also use anonymised analytics to understand how the platform is used. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or share browsing data with ad networks.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), server-side authentication checks, and access controls restricting who can view sensitive SP documents. No internet transmission is completely secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

8. Your Rights Under the NDPR / NDPA

As a data subject under Nigerian law, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention obligations.
  • Restriction — request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
  • Objection — object to processing carried out on legitimate interests grounds.
  • Portability — receive your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time.

9. Children's Privacy

Our platform is not directed at persons under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice at least 7 days before the change takes effect. The updated policy will show a new effective date at the top of this page.
